“An American Fanfare” celebrates the freedom and liberty, not only of the American spirit, but also of the musical spirit.  Written originally for the University Schools Band on the campus of Ball State University, that ensemble’s director describes the work as having “a very Americana feeling with an almost Copland-esque sound.”

The work was written specifically as an introduction to Jack Stamp’s arrangement of “The Star Spangled Banner,” although the handbell solo version varies somewhat from the original band edition.
